Grown by United Nursery, the Philodendron Shangri La, or more commonly known as split-leaf philodendron, is a hybrid cross between two plant species. The Shangri La is a much more compact version of its cousin the philodendron selloum. This variety of philodendron was introduced in the world of house plants in 2021. While the Shangri La is a cultivar that looks similar to Philodendron “Hope” it is distinguished by its more compact and dense growth. The care for the Shangri La remains quite the same as other Philodendron varieties such as the philodendron selloum and hope. It is an easy to grow indoor live house plant with low care requirements. The Philodendron Shangri La has sturdy stems on which compact green leaves with pointed edges grow, and some of the leaves have light green veins that add further texture to its foliage. Once this live plant fully matures, it grows two to three feet tall and three to four feet wide. This indoor plant grows like a shrub and not like a vining plant, thus it does not need any support. Its densely held leaves makes it look quite attractive and being a compact version, makes it perfect for indoor gardens, living rooms, dining rooms, desktops, offices and outdoor landscaping use.
